Memorial Day Weekend Parades & Events

The vast majority of spring has consisted of cool temperatures, overcast skies and rain. This weekend brings Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer and hopefully with it better weather. People are opening their pools, lighting their barbecues and looking to head outdoors to enjoy the weather.
With that in mind here are some activities around Queens you can enjoy during this long, holiday weekend:
• Memorial Day Parades & Events taking place throughout Queens:
o Saturday, May 28, Memorial Day Fair at Sunnyside Gardens Park, 48-21 39 Avenue
o Sunday, May 29, Forest Hills Memorial Day Parade. Parade begins at noon at 107-15 Metropolitan Avenue
o Sunday, May 29, Maspeth Memorial Day Parade. Parade begins at 1 p.m. at Grand Avenue and 72nd Street
o Sunday, May 29, College Point Memorial Day Parade. Parade begins at 2 p.m. at 26th Avenue and College Point Boulevard.
o Monday, May 30, Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade. Parade begins at 2 p.m. on Northern Boulevard and Jayson Street
o Monday, May 30, Glendale and Ridgewood Veteran’s Memorial
o Monday, May 30, Whitestone Memorial Day Parade. Parade begins at noon at 149th Street and 15th Drive.
• Citi Field: The Mets take on the Philadelphia Phillies on May 27-May 29 and face the Pittsburgh Pirates on Memorial Day.
• Queens Theater in the Park
o Suessical; May 28, 11 a.m. and 1 a.m.
• Queens Museum of Art
o Saturday, May 28, 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m.; Curatorial Conversations: Gene McHugh, Brad Troemel and Laurel Ptak will discuss the position of internet art and its relation to its medium and new ways of online reflexivity.
o Sunday, May 29, 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; Free Drop in Art Workshops for Families: Open Studio
