Teachers still targeted

They are your friends and neighbors. They buy groceries alongside you, and they are also some of the most vilified people by Mayor Bloomberg. Who are they? They are New York City public school teachers, and now several thousand will join the ranks of the unemployed, thanks to Bloomberg’s intransigent decision to institute layoffs.

Bloomberg can protect the children of the city, but instead he has made the choice to terminate over 4,000 teachers. Instead of digging into the city’s tax revenue reserves, he would rather shift the blame elsewhere.

He would rather protect the millionaires and billionaires instead of imposing a fair taxation policy that makes those who have more pay their fair share. The mayor would rather change the laws that protect workers instead of making sure the children have their teacher next year.
