SUNNYSIDE — A St. Albans man has been charged in connection with allegedly selling counterfeit items to pawnshops in Sunnyside and Jamaica, according to the criminal complaint.
Darryl Williams, 47, of 193-02 Linden Blvd., allegedly brought a watch to Pawn Shop of Sunnyside, at 46-19 Greenpoint Ave., at about 11:49 a.m. April 14 and told an employee it was a genuine Rolex brand watch worth $4,000 to $5,000, the complaint said.
The shop paid $1,200 for the watch, believing it to be a real Rolex, but was later informed by a Rolex employee that the watch was a counterfeit, according to the complaint.
Williams also brought a pen to Cash in a Flash, at 90-22 Sutphin Blvd., at about 4:10 p.m. May 24 and told an employee it was a genuine Mont Blanc brand pen which he wanted to sell in order to purchase gas, the complaint said.
The store paid $20 for the watch, believing it to be a real Mont Blanc, but was later informed by a Mont Blanc employee that it was a counterfeit, according to the complaint.
The complaint said Williams admitted selling the items to the shops despite knowing they were counterfeits.
Williams was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court June 23 and faces charges of grand larceny, petit larceny, and two counts of trademark counterfeiting, according to the DA, his bail was set at $10,000 and he is due to appear again in court July 7.
