Stars are out for Douglaston Community Day

With Douglaston Community Day fast approaching on August 13, Strawberry’s Sports Grill has recently confirmed appearances by three 1986 champion New York Mets players, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants and a member of one of the most celebrated boy bands of the 2000’s and current television personality.
Barry Lyons, Terry Leach and Kevin Mitchell – who scored the tying run in the famed “Game 6” – will be on hand outside Strawberry’s Sports Grill as well as Giants punter Sean Landeta whose kicking skills helped propel the 1986 and 1990 Giants to Super Bowl victories. Joey Fatone, from N’Sync and current announcer on the Family Feud will also be participating in the day’s events that will include a dunk tank, batting cages, fast-pitch radar gun, mini-basketball, food, music and more.
All proceeds from the First Annual Douglaston Community Day will go to the Darryl Strawberry Foundation’s fight for autism and local community charities.
Current sponsors include Douglaston Chamber of Commerce, Modell’s Sporting Goods, 1050 ESPN Radio, New York Mets, Coors Lights, Capital One, The Queens Courier, Star Subaru, The New York Daily News and more. Raffles and contests will be held every 30 minutes for prizes including Mets tickets, memorabilia and gift cards.
There is still plenty of time to donate gifts, money or your time to the Douglaston Community Day, August 13 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. outside Strawberry’s Sports Grill located at 42-15 235th Street.
