The Woodhaven-Richmond Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps is in need of new defibrillators and will be hosting a July 17 fund-raiser to try and raise money to purchase the equipment.
Neir’s Tavern, at 87-48 78th St. in Woodhaven, will host the event, which will starts at 2 p.m. and feature a barbecue and music from the local community.
Defibrillators are used to administer an electric current to the heart when a patient goes into cardiac arrest.
The ambulance already has a set of defibrillators, but the equipment is old and deteriorating.
