Queens Councilmembers Eric Ulrich, Elizabeth Crowley and Karen Koslowitz contributed money from their council discretionary funds to increase litter basket service along a stretch of Jamaica Avenue.
“This funding will go a long way towards improving the quality of life for residents and business owners alike. It is just another example of what can be accomplished when elected officials, residents and the Sanitation Department work together to keep our streets clean,” said Ulrich in a statement.
Ulrich and Crowley gave $6,188 each and Koslowitz contributed $6,000 for more service along Jamaica Avenue from the Brooklyn border to the Van Wyck Expressway.
“They’re trying to keep the streets clean, trying to keep the baskets from overflowing,” said Conor Greene, a spokesman from Ulrich’s office. – Vishal Persaud
