The vanishing book

Having recently read about the “closing” of book stores in many areas, I have come to the conclusion that these “changes” are detrimental to people with a curiosity about the world around them.
Obviously, TV and computers have now become the objects of their affection. This is just fine, but must we really replace books for the most part?
Reading biographies and autobiographies still provides men and women with vital information that is not always available elsewhere.
Hopefully, folks will return once again to their bookshelves, as well as to libraries, while they are still in existence.
