LONG ISLAND CITY — Police were asking for the public’s help last Thursday in finding a suspect wanted in a shooting in Long Island City.
The victim was involved in a dispute with the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Saul Chavez, around 1:15 p.m. Oct. 21 in front of 807 Astoria Blvd. in Long Island City, when Chavez allegedly pulled out a gun and started firing, police said.
The victim was struck in the left thigh and taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, police said.
Chavez then allegedly fled the scene, police said.
Chavez was described as about 5-foot-3 and weighing 125 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hood over his head, police said.
