A small fire broke out on the roof of the Elmcor Senior Center during construction work last Saturday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2011, it was reported. Multiple Fire Department units and officers from the 115th Precinct responded to the blaze that ignited at around 3:55 p.m. at the center located at 98-15 Astoria Blvd. in East Elmhurst. There were no reported injuries; the senior center was closed at the time of the incident.
