On Sunday, the BWG Cosmos U12A played in the State Cup against Dix Hills Cosmos U12.
The U12A maintained possession the entire game and took some great shots on goal. They passed the ball nicely and showed great hustle and movement.
The final score was 1-0 with BWG Cosmos U12A taking the win and moving on to continue their State Cup tourney run. Peter Mazanek scored the game-winner with the assist by Demos Demopoulos.
On Saturday the BWG Cosmos GU13 played the first round of the State Cup against the Staten Island Gunners.
The BWG Cosmos girls controlled the game and created many chances, but had trouble finding the back of the net. In the second half, a through-ball from the midfield connected with Caitlin Azzopardi, the BWG Cosmos striker who scored the winning goal. The Cosmos defense was impenetrable throughout the game. The final score was 1-0 in favor of BWG.
The LI Cup was played on Sunday between the BWG Cosmos GU13 and the Northport Blue Momentum.
The score during regulation time was 2-2, with goals coming from Andrea Cordoza and Azzopardi. After overtime play the game went to penalty shoot-out where Northport won 6-5.
The U17 Green team started the CJSL season with a positive result in a 8-0 win over American Millennium SC at Juniper. Captain Joe Gaviria started the scoring with a carefully placed shot from a through-ball by John Estrada.
Two additional goals followed seconds later from rookie Jeromie Ferdinand and Ivan Vujin to quickly put the Cosmos up 3-0 14 minutes into the first half.
The goals continued to tally up as Gaviria had two for the day, captain Francisco Osorio scored a corner kick and newcomer Akeem Morris finished a hat trick by a brilliant aerial volley off a Raul Bonilla cross.
