Maintain Your Rooftop a/ C Units Before Summer Hits

Fix Problems Now, Save $$$ Later

Hot summer days will be here soon, and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) advises that now is a good time for companies with rooftop air conditioners to get them serviced.

A rooftop air conditioner unit that has been properly maintained can increase customer comfort, reduce emergency calls and save businesses up to 30 percent of their air conditioning costs, depending on the condition of the unit.

This savings is possible because continued quality inspection and maintenance improves the performance and energy efficiency of the units. Quality maintenance identifies procedures to provide healthy air quality and comfortable temperatures.

The NYSERDA HVAC Business Partners Program supports participating HVAC technicians who use advanced diagnostic tools when inspecting and servicing HVAC units to national standards.

The use of advanced diagnostic tools allow Partners to more precisely confirm air flow and refrigerant levels before and after maintenance is performed. Improper air flow and refrigerant levels will decrease the efficiency of an HVAC unit causing the unit to work harder and increasing operating costs.

“The HVAC Business Partners Program provides a valuable opportunity for businesses to increase their energy savings and reduce the number of emergency calls,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., president and CEO of NYSERDA. “Proper maintenance of HVAC systems has proven to be an essential component in the process of pursuing energy efficiency in buildings.”

Partners are located across the state that can perform quality maintenance for building owners.

HVAC contractors who work with and primarily serve New York State customers are eligible for the HVAC Business Partners Program.

Criteria for contractors interested in becoming program Business Partners include active professional trade association membership, proven management dedication to customer service and proficiency in energy efficiency design, installation and maintenance.
