Joined by Department of Transportation (DOT) Queens Borough Commissioner, Maura McCarthy, residents of Sunnyside and members of Community Board 2, Van Bramer announced the addition of 18 to 20 additional parking spaces to Barnett Avenue.

“Parking in the City of New York can be hard to come by and for that reason I have continued to work with the DOT to find additional parking for residents,” said Van Bramer. “I the DOT for responding to my request for more parking for Sunnyside residents and I will continue to fight for more parking.”

In July 2011, Van Bramer wrote a letter to the DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan requesting that the previous parking regulations, which were in place, be adjusted in order to accommodate additional parking spaces.

DOT Queens Borough Commissioner, Maura McCarthy stated, “We are always willing to work with Council Member Van Bramer and his colleagues across the borough to address community parking needs by modifying our parking inventory when feasible as we did here on Barnett Avenue.”
