Other Cosmos Squads Are In Action
The Blau Weiss Gottschee Cosmos U8C turned in another strong performance against the Millenium Soccer kids at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park last Saturday, Apr. 14.
Despite being three players short, they got a 6-2 victory with Liam Molloy scoring a hat trick, Jordan Cohen netting two and Jason Araujo netting one.
The BW Gottschee Cosmos U8D were up 2-1 in the first half against Asphalt Green thanks to two goals by Rory Duggan. In the second half, Endrit Hajzeri scored the third goal but Asphalt caught up with their second goal. The score ended in a 3-3 tie.
The BWG Cosmos U8E beat F.C. Select Red 3-1 on Saturday, Apr. 14 at Brennan Field in the CJSL Spring 2012 Boys U8C division. With a goal apiece by Matthew Robinson, Darren Binder and Sergio Arias, the team demonstrated their ball control with 19 dangerous dribbling runs by Niko Kontonis.
The U8E now has a 2-1-0 record early in the season.
U9s
The BW Gottschee Cosmos U9B played against the Buena Vista on Apr. 14 and won 4-3.
U10s
The BWG Cosmos U10B squad stayed on the winning side by defeating SC Goja 5-2. After giving up a very quick goal BWG settled in and scored five straight before SC Goja added a consolation goal with 30 seconds left.
Johan Grande Rojas, Nicholas Mluck, William Bailon, Victor Regaterio and Justin Hermosa scored while reserve keeper Matthew Krische made some key saves to secure the win.
U12s
The BW Gottschee U12s played Corinthians on sat, lost 5-0 .It was 1- 0 at half time and we gave up late goals in what was a better game than the score line reflects.
U12 also played Asphalt Green on Sunday to a 1-1 draw. They were again 1-0 down at the half but playing well. The boys moved the ball well and got a deserved equalizer and limited Asphalt Green to one attack in the 2nd half.
U13s
The BW Gottschee Cosmos U13 boys played two games. On Saturday, the boys played Asphalt Green, they moved the ball well and came out gunning from the start. The end result was 6-0.
On Sunday, the U13s took a trip to New Jersey to play Haddonfield SC Red Dawgs. The boys started slow with their first goal coming in the 17th minute of the first half. The score at the half was 1-0.
In the second half Gottschee came flying out of the gate, scoring four more goals in the process to end the game with the final score of 5-0.
U16s
On Saturday, the U16As tied their third CJSL game against DUSC 1-1. The only goal was scored by Junior Peralta.
On Sunday the team lost to FC Inter 3-2 in the City Cup game with both BWG goals scored by Eric Alerte.
U17s
The U17 Green team won a crucial CJSL game on Sunday against Korabi FC 2-1. Both goals were scored by Akeem Morris thanks to corner kicks by Captain Francisco Osorio.
The U17 Green are currently in first place in their division with four wins.
Girls’ U13s
The BWG Cosmos GU13 played their first LIJSL league game this Saturday vs Garden City Wildcats on Randall’s Island. The BWG Cosmos controlled the game with some very good play from the defense as well as when on the attack. Some decisive play from goalie Kinberly Moreira, concluded the game with a final score of 2-0 in favor of the Cosmos GU13 with goal coming from Cailin Azzopardi and Jacklyn Lada.
High School Girls
BW Gottschee’s high school girls played their second round of the Long Island Cup against East Meadows at Brennan Field and won 4-2. Three goals were scored by Tori Antonino with one by Sarah Nolan.
Pre-Academy
The Cosmos 99 U12 Blue team won two pre-academy games this weekend defeating FC Westchester 14-3 on Saturday and NJSA 9-0 on Sunday. The boys dominated both teams and possessed the ball most of the game.
The Cosmos 98 team played FC Westchester on Sunday ending with a 5-0 win for Cosmos.
The Cosmos 97 team defeated FC Westchester on Sunday with a 5-0 win.
The Cosmos 96 team played to a 0-0 tie against FC Westchester.
