Pupils at P.S. 91 who improved their attendance over the last year were honored during an “Every Student, Every Day” breakfast at the Glendale school last Thursday, Mar. 29. As described, the program initiated by the Mayor’s office and the Department of Education reached out to students with 20 or more absences in the previous school year to increase their participation in daily classs. The initiative has been successful at P.S. 91, offiicials noted, with the attendance rate increasing from 93.4 percent in September 2010 to 94.4 percent in September 2011. Some of the young honorees are pictured along with Marvin Aschendorf, attendance teacher, and guidance counselors Megan Liendo and Frank Sciarratta.
