Armed Bandits Rob Glendale Mall Garage

Thousands of dollars in cash were stolen and two attendants were left tied up by three armed bandits who robbed a parking garage booth inside The Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, according to police.

Reportedly, the stickup took place at around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon in the South Garage of the shopping mall located at the corner of Cooper Avenue and 80th Street.

According to law enforcement sources, two employees at the parking garage office were approached by an unidentified female suspect, who asked them about purchasing a ticket a parking spot.

Moments later, police said, two bandits-described as African-American males and carrying firearms- confronted the workers and forced their way inside.

Law enforcement sources said the suspects then tied up the parking attendants and gained access to the safe, removing several thousand dollars in cash.

The suspects reportedly took off with the cash and were last seen leaving the mall in a black SUV that was observed traveling eastbound on Cooper Avenue toward Woodhaven Boulevard.

Police were called a short time later, and officers from the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. The attendants were not seriously injured.

Despite a canvass of the surday. rounding area, authorities noted, no immediate arrests were made.

The 104th Precinct Detective Squad, working with the assistance of Atlas Park security personnel, is conducting an investigation, police sources said.
