Small business owners from Queens and the Bronx came to LaGuardia Community College last Monday, May 14, for a special information session regarding the “10,000 Small Businesses” outreach program offered by Goldman Sachs. As described, the program is a $500 million investment designed to help small businesses create jobs and economic opportunity by providing them with greater access to business education, financial capital and business support groups. Rep. Joseph Crowley was among those on hand for the session; he urged local businesses to apply for the program and take advantage of what it has to offer. Shown in the photo (from left to right) are Paul Villanueva, a graduate of the 10,000 Small Businesses program; Mario Fichera, current 10,000 Small Businesses participant; George Lolis, 10,000 Small Businesses graduate; Dina Powell, president of the Goldman Sachs Foundation; Crowley; Mercedes Cano, 10,000 Small Businesses graduate; and Jane Schulman, LaGuardia’s vice president for adult and continuing education.
