Youngsters Sing Their Hearts Out at Midville, R’wood, Brooklyn Concerts

Students from the Joe Fuoco Music Center in Glendale presented “a music variety show spanning the eras” at the Marge Fuoco Memorial Concert held last Saturday night, May 19, at St. Matthias School Auditorium in Ridgewood. As noted, the show named in honor of Marge Fesler Fuoco, a graduate of St. Matthais School Class of 1944, benefited the Honeysuckle Foundation for Children With Cancer and the Fuoco Family Music Scholarship at St. Matthias School. During the event, donations were also accepted by members of the East Coast Car Association for the Toys for Tots program. Pictured above are some of the performers, who were directed by Joe and Jeanette Fuoco (standing at center, flanking sign).
Hoping to encourage their fellow students to believe in themselves, youngsters at P.S. 257 in East Williamsburg, the Magnet School of Performing Arts, presented their concert titled “Believe” on Monday, May 21. As noted, the concert featured an appearance by Lori Martini, an actress and film producer, who spoke to youngsters about the importance of confidence and resisting peer pressure. Martini is pictured with the performers as well as kindergarten teacher Annette Libassi and dance teacher Christine Nelson, who also directed the event.

Patriotic pride was on display at the St. Margaret School Spring Concert last Monday, May 14, as students at the Middle Village campus delighted an audience with their performance of songs celebrating America. Under the direction of Music Teacher Kathy Burger, students are shown in the top left photo leading the audience in “God Bless America.” Third and fourth graders are shown in the left photo singing “Grand Old Flag,” while students from the prekindergarten and kindergarten classes are pictured in the top right photo performing “Proud to Be an American.” At right are fifthand sixth-graders who celebrated the Union with their rendition of “Fifty Nifty States.”
