Driver, 47, dies after bus strikes his van

WOODSIDE — A driver was killed when his van collided with a city bus at the intersection of 39th Avenue and 69th Street in Woodside, police said.

Police said the Q53 bus was traveling westbound on 39th Avenue when it smashed into a 2007 Ford Econoline van driven by a 47-year-old male.

The driver of the van was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The bus driver, a 46-year-old male, was also taken to Elmhurst Hospital and listed in stable condition, cops said.

There were three occupants on the bus at the time of the accident, who all refused medical attention, according to cops, and there is no criminality suspected at this time.
