Illegal Rave Shut Down In Ridgewood

Officers from the 104th Precinct turned out the lights on an illegal party catering to underage youths at a Ridgewood warehouse last Friday night, July 6, during which alcohol was illegally served, according to police.

The sting operation reportedly took place at 10 p.m. last Friday night at a venue located on Troutman Street near Flushing Avenue. The bust was conducted under the direction of the 104th Precinct’s special operations coordinator, Lt. James Lombardi, Conditions Team supervisor, Sgt. Harry Singh, and commanding officer, Capt. Michael Cody.

Law enforcement sources said that police came upon the location and noticed a large group of teenagers loitering outside. Reportedly, the guests were invited to the party through word of mouth and social networking sites.

Police officers entered the location and conducted an inspection, which found only one main egress leading into and out of the warehouse; a second door was located in the rear. Assorted tables and bars were also found inside the industrial location.

Reportedly, the officers deemed the location unsafe for use and ordered the teenagers to leave the premises immediately.

One youth was found severely intoxicated and transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The building’s owner, identified by authorities as Amal Nimul of 12th Avenue in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, was issued summonses by police for operating an unlicensed bottle club, warehousing alcohol, having an unlicensed cabaret and unlawfully offering alcohol for sale.

Twelve large bottles of alcohol, including vodka and champagne, were seized by police from the location, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing.
