Guests found plenty of entertainment to enjoy at the “Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival” held by the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation on Sunday, Oct. 14, along Jamaica Avenue. The Times Newsweekly was among the co-sponsors of the fair, which featured demonstrations by the Franklin K. Lane High School ROTC (shown in the top photo) and a special Chinese dragon dance (photo at left), normally a custom celebrated during the Asian lunar new year. The festival also featured an array of food vendors and shopkeepers. Among the organizations that also participated in the festival was the Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association (WRBA), which offered t-shirts bearing the neighborhood’s 11421 ZIP code and recruited new members. Among those pictured below at the organization’s table were WRBA President Ed Wendell, Vice President Janet Chan-Smith, Communications Director Alexander Blenkinsopp and members Steven Forte and Arlene Annunziata.
