Owen Byrne, a fifth-grader at St. Matthias School in Ridgewood, spent his Christmas Eve creating origami cranes as part of “Operation Sandy Hook: Peace To You.” As noted, the creative program honors the memory of the 20 children and six educators who were murdered in the Dec. 14, 2012 massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The artwork, created by folding paper, will be sent to the school as a gesture of sympathy and hope.
