One dead in Jamaica fire

Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning blaze after a man was found dead in the fire’s remains.

According to the NYPD, around 9:30 a.m., police and fire personnel responded to a one-alarm fire inside 119-30 146th Street. After putting out the blaze, the burned body of a man, later identified as 35-year-old James Minor of Poughkeepsie, New York, was discovered in the basement of the location.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
