Bank Heist Attempt Goes Bad In Ridgewood

A suspect’s bid to swipe bucks from a Ridgewood bank last Friday morning, Apr. 26, ended in failure when an employee refused to comply with the suspect’s demands, police reported.

Police sealed off the Bank of America location at the corner of Forest and Myrtle avenues last Friday, Apr. 26, after a note-carrying bandit unsuccessfully attempted to rob the branch.

Law enforcement sources said the attempted heist took place at 10:55 a.m. last Friday at the Bank of America branch located at 59-01 Myrtle Ave., at the corner of Forest Avenue.

Reportedly, the bandit-described as a black male standing 6′-tall and wearing a multi-colored sweatshirt, a green baseball cap, black work boots and gloves-entered the location, approached a teller and demanded cash.

Seconds later, authorities noted, the crook walked out of the location empty-handed after the teller denied his request.

Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. It was determined that no weapons were displayed during the course of the robbery bid.

Various police units canvassed the area for the suspect, but no immedi- ate arrests were made despite their efforts, authorities noted.

The investigation is being conducted by the NYPD Major Case Squad, police said.
