Two Democrats are competing in the primary for City Council District 32, which represents Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Woodhaven and the Rockaways.
William Ruiz works as a property manager and previously worked as a housing advocate. He said his main issue is serving halal meals in schools. He also said public safety and housing are important.
Lew Simon, a teacher and founder of the Good Government Regular Democratic Club, serves as district leader in the 23rd Assembly District. He lists the recovery of the Rockaways as his most important issue.
