Job hunters 50 years of age and older got a chance to interview for positions at a special job fair in Kew Gardens last Friday, May 30. As noted, State Sen. Joseph Addabbo sponsored the fair held at the Kew Gardens Community Center to help address high rates of unemployment among seniors. According to Addabbo’s office, over 700 job hunters participated, and the line to get in to the fair stretched out to the street (shown at left). Among the entities participating in the fair were Family Aides Inc., the New York State Department of Labor, the YWCA City of New York Women’s Empowerment Program and the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center. Addabbo plans to hold a job fair for all working ages this fall in Arverne.
