Lane closures on tap for Throgs Neck Bridge

By Philip Newman

As many as two out of three Queens-bound lanes of the Throgs Neck Bridge will be shut down during the night for seven weekends this summer for restoration of the bridge’s flooring surface.

Starting the weekend of June 20 – 23, one Queens bound lane will be closed from the Bronx toll plaza south to the Bronx anchorage of the bridge from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

During daytime hours on the weekend two lanes to Queens will stay open.

When the work is completed motorists will notice a smoother and more even riding surface, according to MTA Bridge and Tunnel officials.
