State Sen. Toby Stavisky (D-Flushing) scored a couple endorsements in her re-election campaign this week.
The AFL-CIO, an affiliation of statewide unions representing roughly 18,000 voters in District 16, announced their support of Stavisky, who is fending off a primary challenge from S.J. Jung.
“Sen. Stavisky has been a passionate advocate that working families can count on, both at home in Queens and when representing them in Albany,” Mario Cilento, president of the New York State AFL-CIO, said. “We are proud to support Sen. Stavisky’s re-election and look forward to working with her on important issues like creating good jobs and investing in the public services we all rely on.”
The New York League of Conservation Voters, an environmental advocacy group, also endorsed the incumbent Wednesday.
“Queens needs more environmental leaders like Toby Ann Stavisky,” said Jon Del Giorno, chairman of NYLCV’s New York City Chapter. “Throughout her time in public service, Sen. Stavisky has been a staunch advocate for a greener, healthier New York. We are proud to endorse her and we encourage Queens residents who want clean air and a greener environment to vote for Toby Stavisky this fall.”
