The next city budget will highlight a public hearing that Community Board 5 will hold at its next meeting this Wednesday night, Sept. 10, in Middle Village.
As announced by District Manager Gary Giordano, the session takes place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Regional High School’s CNL Center, located at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave. (enter through Door 10, take elevator to third floor).
The main agenda item will be a public hearing regarding the fiscal year 2016 capital and expense budget for New York City, especially as it relates to Ridgewood, Glendale, Maspeth and Middle Village. Speakers can testify for up to three minutes each regarding budget requests.
Thereafter, the board will hold a public hearing on a Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA) variance application submitted by attorney Eric Palatnik on behalf of Bill Wolf Petroleum Corp. for the operation of a gas station at 60-04 Metropolitan Ave. in Ridgewood (Block 3492, Lot 45) in an R6B/C2-4 zoning district. The application is BSA Calendar No. 973-57BZ and would extend the existing operating variance for a period of 10 years.
After the public hearings, the board will conduct its regular business, which includes a public forum; reports by District Manager Giordano and Chairperson Vincent Arcuri; a review of liquor license applications and demolition notices; and committee reports.
There will also be an update regarding the proposed Cooper Avenue homeless shelter in Glendale.
