Four-day Fest on Fresh Pond Starts

Ridgewood Artery Closed Nightly

The four-night Fresh Pond Road Street Festival in Ridgewood begins this evening, Thursday, Sept. 4, and drivers and commuters are advised to be prepared for parking and travel restrictions.

A five-block stretch of Fresh Pond Road between Menahan and Woodbine streets will be closed tonight, Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6, from 5 p.m. to around 11 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 2 p.m. to about 10 p.m.

Sponsored by the Federazione Italo-Americana di Brooklyn and Queens, the annual event features food, games, vendors, entertainment and rides all along the shopping strip.

To accommodate the various rides and portable vending booths used during the fair, parking on the five-block stretch of Fresh Pond Road will be restricted through Monday morning.

Once Fresh Pond Road is closed to vehicular traffic, drivers are advised to seek alternate routes through the area. The Q58 bus line, which operates along Fresh Pond Road, will be diverted to Forest and Metropolitan avenues.

Commuters and residents are advised to anticipate congestion and allow for additional time to both travel through the area and find parking spots.
