Woodhaven Pasta Night for Amb. Corps

Hoping to keep the neighborhood volunteer ambulance corps alive, the Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association (WRBA) cooked up a fund-raising pasta dinner last Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Emanuel United Church of Christ. Hundreds turned out to enjoy fine Italian fare and entertainment. All proceeds benefited the Woodhaven-Richmond Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WRHVAC), which fell on hard times after their Jamaica Avenue headquarters was damaged and closed following the partial collapse of a neighboring building in April 2013. Among those on hand for the event are (from left to right) State Sen. Joseph Addabbo; Frank Tranchina; Walter Steffens; City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley; Angelo A. DiGangi; Kathy Dalbey of the WRHVAC; Assemblyman Mike Miller; City Council Member Eric Ulrich; and former WRBA President Ed Wendell.
