No Street Cleaning On Various Holidays
Alternate side parking rules will be suspended today and tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 9-10, for the Jewish holy days of Succoth. Street cleaning rules will also be suspended on Monday, Oct. 13, in observance of Columbus Day; Thursday, Oct. 16, for the Jewish holy day of Shemini Atzereth; and Friday, Oct. 17, for the Jewish holy day of Simchas Torah.
Meter regulations, however, will remain in effect city wide each day.

Because of ongoing construction work at several locations throughout Queens and Brooklyn, the city DOT has announced numerous street closures in local neighborhoods for the upcoming week.
The announced diversions are current as of Wednesday, Oct. 8, and weather permitting. The DOT may shut down other roads should the need for emergency repairs arise.
Streets and highways that are affected by closures during this week include the following:
Grand Street Bridge Shut On Saturdays
The Grand Street Bridge over the Newtown Creek will be closed on two Saturdays-Oct. 11 and 18-from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to allow for repairs to deck gratings and sidewalks.
The DOT advises drivers to use Metropolitan and Flushing avenues as alternate routes.
Resurfacing In Elm., Midville & Glendale
Weather permitting, DOT crews will perform street resurfacing work on the following streets:
– 43rd Avenue between 74th and 76th streets in Elmhurst for paving on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 44th Avenue between 74th and 76th streets in Elmhurst for paving on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 57th Road between 78th Street and the dead end in Middle Village for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– 58th Avenue between 76th and 81st streets in Middle Village for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– 59th Street between Cooper Avenue and the dead end in Glendale for milling on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 60th Place between 75th and St. Felix avenues in Glendale for milling on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 60th Street between St. Felix and Cooper avenues in Glendale for milling on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 74th Street between Queens Boulevard and Woodside Avenue in Elmhurst for paving on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– 76th Street between 58th and Eliot avenues in Middle Village for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– 76th Street between Woodside and 45th avenues in Elmhurst for paving on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 78th Avenue between Cypress Avenue and 60th Lane in Glendale for milling on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 79th Avenue between 60th Street and Cypress Avenue in Glendale for milling on Friday, Oct. 10;
– 79th Street between Eliot Avenue and Queens Midtown Expressway in Middle Village for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– 84th Street between 58th and Eliot avenues in Middle Village for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– Granger Street between Horace Harding Expressway and Martense Avenue in Corona for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
– Penrod Street between Martense and Westside avenues in Corona for milling on Friday, Oct. 10; and
– Queens Midtown Expressway between 78th and 80th streets in Middle Village for milling on Thursday, Oct. 9;
Drivers are reminded that parking on these streets is prohibited during work hours, under penalty of a fine and removal of vehicle.
Lane Closures On
Van Wyck Expwy.
One of three lanes in each direction of the Van Wyck Expressway between Jewel Avenue and Union Turnpike may be closed on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. due to construction work related to the Kew Gardens rehabilitation project.
Additionally, up to two lanes in either direction of the expressway in the same section may be closed on overnights from 1 to 5 a.m.
Kew Gdns. Project Affects Union Tpke.
Long-term construction related to the state Department of Transportation’s Kew Gardens Interchange project will require the right lane of Union Turnpike eastbound to be closed at all times between 128th and 134th streets. All existing traffic lanes will remain open and are shifted to the left.
Lane Closures On Grand Central Pkwy.
One lane of the Grand Central Parkway in each direction will be closed between 82nd and 111th streets on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weekdays. Lane closures will also take place from 10 p.m. Fridays to 7 a.m. Saturdays and from 10 p.m. Saturdays to 3 p.m. Sundays.
Two lanes of traffic in each direction may be closed on weeknights from 12:01 until 5 a.m., Saturdays from 1 to 6 a.m. and Sundays from 1 to 9 a.m.
Additionally, up to two lanes in both directions on the Grand Central Parkway may be closed under 44th Street and 47th Streets weeknights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through September to allow for bridge repainting.
Sewer Work Leads To Pkwy. Closures
One of three lanes of the Belt Parkway between Cross Bay Boulevard and 194th Street in either direction may be closed on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weeknights 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Additionally, two of three lanes in either direction may be closed in this segment on early weekday mornings from 1 to 5 a.m.
The closures are required to allow for sewer reconstruction, which is expected to continue through July 2016.
Furthermore, one of two lanes of the Nassau Expressway exit ramp to the eastbound Belt Parkway between 115th and 128th streets will be closed until further notice.
