For Christmas & New Year’s
The Sanitation Department will not collect garbage, recyclable or organic waste the next two Thursdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day, respectively.
Residents who normally receive Thursday refuse and organics collection should place their waste at curbside after 4 p.m. on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Most residents will have their refuse collected a day or two after the holiday, however; some residents may not receive service until their next scheduled collection day.
Organic material normally picked up on Thursday will be collected on Friday after both holidays.
Because of the consecutive Thursday holidays, those who normally receive Thursday recycling collection should not place their materials out at curbside until after 4 p.m. on Jan. 1 for collection on Friday, Jan. 2.
Additionally, all DSNY administrative offices will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Days.
