Two die after car crashes into scaffolding in Jamaica: NYPD

JAMAICA — Two men in their 20s died after their car crashed into scaffolding in front of a Jamaica high school early Sunday morning, the NYPD said.

A 2001 Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway service road and lost control coming off the roadway and struck construction scaffolding at Thomas Edison HS at 165-65 84th Ave., according to the NYPD’s Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad.

The car, which had two passengers, became engulfed in flames, police said. The passengers were found unresponsive and unconscious, with severe burn trauma and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the victims were not yet known, according to a police spokesman.
