Despite rave reviews from customers and even a food television program, a Bayside bakery couldn’t keep its doors open beyond 2015.
Thursday was the last day of business for Teaspoon Bake Shop at 36-41 Bell Blvd. after five years of serving treats in the neighborhood. The bakery was run by Queens local and professionally trained pastry chef Alissa Levine and her husband, Josh Stern.
A Facebook page for the Teaspoon Bake Shop has already been deactivated. In a statement on the bakery’s Instagram account, the owners thanked all who helped the shop go from just a dream to a reality.
“We will miss serving our loyal customers, but are excited for what the future holds,” the statement read. In 2012, the confectionery was featured in the Cooking Channel show, “Unique Sweets.” A recipe from the episode for oatmeal cake with maple glaze can still be found on the channel’s website.
Hi everyone, this will be our last post. After five years in Bayside, Teaspoon Bake Shop had its last day this past Thursday. We will miss serving our loyal customers, but are excited for what the future holds. A special thanks to everyone who had a part in turning this shop from an idea in our heads to a business that was featured on national television and became a destination for pastry lovers from all over the area (and beyond). Thank you for helping us live this dream for the past five years. (Photo by @elizabethsarahd ) A photo posted by @teaspoonbakeshop on
