Driver kills 64-year-old woman after backing into parking space in Corona

A 64-year-old woman was killed Friday morning after a driver tried backing into a parking space near Hinton Park in Corona, Queens, police said.

The driver, a 54-year-old woman, was attempting to park her car at the intersection of 113th Street and 37th Avenue when she struck Lin Qinyun of Corona as she was crossing the street, police said.

Police received the call at about 8:45 a.m. and transported Qinyun to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, who’s identity has not been released, stayed at the scene. Police did not give any summonses or make an arrest.

The investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
