Bayside Village BID holds sports and health festival

By Mark Hallum

The Bayside Village BID held its second annual Sports and Health Festival on Bell Boulevard Sunday.

The event included activities such as a rock wall, nine-hole mini golf, relay races, hopscotch and jump rope, bean bag toss and wiffle ball.

The Sports and Health Festival is part of the NYC DOT Weekend Walks program, which closes streets and block for community events organized by local business improvement districts, cultural organizations and other groups. The partnership between DOT and community organizations creates a car-free environment that is safe and family-friendly.

The festival took place between 42nd and 43rd streets on Bell Boulevard, which was closed to traffic for attendees to walk freely.
