The Bao Shoppe, an Asian eatery located on Steinway Street, has been temporarily closed by the Health Department.
The restaurant, which opened last year at 30-66 Steinway Street, was closed due to evidence of mice and the food not being protected from contamination during storage, according to Health Department records.
The eatery is best known for its bao, buns filled with items such pork, fried chicken or tofu.
The operators placed a sign in the window stating that their hot water boiler broke and flooded the basement. The restaurant closed due to a lack of running hot water.

4) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.
5) Pesticide use not in accordance with label or applicable laws. Prohibited chemical used/stored. Open bait station used.
