Two were seriously injured after a tree fell on the Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens on Saturday.
At approximately 4:41 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, near Exit 4 (Forest Park Drive), a tree was uprooted during the heavy rainstorm, crashing into the traffic, causing damage to two cars and injuring six in the process.
Two refused medical treatment, two suffered minor injuries, and two suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The fire department sent out 12 firetrucks with 60 firefighters. Once the responders got there, they lifted the tree off of the sedan and minivan and treated the victims’ injuries.
The roadway sustained no damage and is up and running as usual.
