The site of the now-closed Western Beef Supermarket will be redeveloped in to a 210-room hotel, city building records confirm.
The old supermarket building at 36-20 Steinway Street will be demolished to make way for a 5-story Hampton Inn, according to the developer’s building application.
The Queens Gazette was first to report that a hotel would be constructed on the site.
According to Dept. of Building records, the hotel will contain 119,722 square feet of space, and will have 77 enclosed parking spaces.
It will have an exercise room, meeting rooms and 14 hotel rooms on the cellar level, and will have the lobby, bar, breakfast area and 28 hotel rooms on the first floor.
The second through fifth floors will have between 49 and 67 hotel rooms each.
The hotel is being designed by Gene Kaufman, an architect based near Union Square in Manhattan.
The new hotel will be located several blocks from Kaufmann Studios and the Museum of the Moving Image, along with various other retailers.
The closest subway stop is the 36th Street station serving the E, M and R trains.
