Man assaults female employee while trying to shoplift at a Rite Aid store in Astoria

Police are searching for a man who robbed an Astoria drug store and pushed a woman to the ground as he made his escape.

On Friday, Dec. 16, a report was filed to the police saying that at 9 a.m., an individual entered a Rite Aid located at 43-02 Ditmars Boulevard and began to remove items from the store. As the suspect was leaving, he pushed a 42-year-old female employee to the ground as she tried to stop him from leaving the store.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 27 years old, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds.
