Police released security footage on Monday night of two men who swiped $3,000 in cash from a Maspeth grocery store at gunpoint last month.
The stickup took place at 8:24 p.m. on Jan. 28 inside the Maspeth Deli and Grocery located at 59-66 56th Ave. near 60th Street.
The video shows the two male bandits casually walking into the store, and then cuts to one of the suspects — a black or Hispanic male wearing an orange knit cap, a blue coat, blue jeans and red sneakers — pulling out a firearm.
Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator pointed his weapon at a 27-year-old male clerk and a 9-year-old girl sitting on the employee’s lap. The gunman told the man and girl to lie down on the floor; as they did so, he removed cash from the registers.
Seconds later, authorities noted, the gunman removed a cigar box from underneath the counter and handed it to his accomplice, a man who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap, a blue-and-white jacket, blue jeans and dark-colored sneakers. Police said the cigar box contained an additional quantity of cash.
The two crooks then fled the scene northbound on 56th Avenue. The robbery was later reported to the 104th Precinct; the victims were not injured.
Anyone with information regarding the suspects’ whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS, visit their website or send a text message to 274637 (CRIMES), then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
