Police are looking for a man who prevented a pregnant woman from getting off an elevator in Flushing in order to rob her earlier this week.
Law enforcement sources said the robbery took place at 11:50 a.m. on March 15 inside 133-47 Sanford Ave., near Main Street.
According to the NYPD, the 29-year-old pregnant woman was riding the elevator with the suspect, described as a Hispanic male believed to be 20 years of age, standing 5 foot 7 inches tall with a medium complexion and wearing a red hat, a black jacket and black boots.
When the elevator reached the second floor, police said, the pregnant woman attempted to get off, but the suspect blocked the door and demanded cash. The victim complied with the crook’s request, then exited the elevator.
Law enforcement sources said the suspect remained on the elevator until it reached the basement, where he departed and fled the scene. The robbery was reported to the 109th Precinct.
Police released on Thursday security camera footage of the suspect.
