The NYPD is looking for the driver who struck a 71-year-old Elmhurst man in Jackson Heights on Sept. 13, who died four days later.
The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that Jose Gomez, who lived on Broadway nears 80th Street in Elmhurst, was standing next to his 2013 Toyota Camry, which he had legally parked on the north side of Northern Boulevard near 85th Street, around 4 p.m. when a black sedan crashed into him, police said. Gomez was thrown forward and struck his car and an additional vehicle before coming to rest in the roadway, according to the NYPD.
The black sedan sped away from the scene heading east towards 84th Street, police said.
Police officers from the 115th Precinct responded to a 911 call and discovered Gomez with head trauma. EMS took the victim to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he succumbed to his injuries Sept. 17, police said.
There have been no arrests and the investigation continues, according to the NYPD.
