Queens residents will have even more opportunities to pick up a cheesy gordita crunch or cheesy fiesta potatoes as Taco Bell announced it would be opening 50 more locations in the five boroughs by 2022.
According to Eater, this is part of the chain’s effort to expand to more cities. Until now, Taco Bell focused on suburban neighborhoods where it could open drive-throughs. It plans on opening five chains by the beginning of 2018, including one in Corona at 38th Avenue and Junction Blvd.
In total, 300 to 350 new Taco Bell locations will open throughout the country.
Mike Grams, the company’s chief operating officer, told Eater that all the locations will be in highly trafficked areas and will be 1,000 square feet or larger. Some locations will also serve alcohol, although the Corona chain will not.
The 50 restaurants will also feature unique menu items specific to each location and neighborhood artists will be commissioned to decorate the spaces.
QNS reached out to the company and is awaiting a response.
