MTA to offer free bus service to LGA, expanded LIRR schedule for holidays

The No. 7 train will finally start running to 11th Avenue and 34th Street in mid-September, the MTA says.

The MTA announced it would make special service changes for holiday travelers such as free bus fares to LaGuardia Airport and increased LIRR service.

Starting Friday, the LIRR is adding 13 trains to its regular schedule from Penn Station going to eastbound destinations. Q70 bus service will be free of charge for people linking up from the Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Avenue subway station to LaGuardia Friday and Saturday. Bus service to the airport from 61st Street – Woodside on the No. 7 train will also be free.

Between Dec. 26 and Dec. 31, the 53rd Street tunnel will be closed between Court Square and 50 St-8 Ave. for the installation of tracks and signals, the MTA announced
