Cops nabbed a Brooklyn man on Sunday morning moments after he allegedly roughed up and robbed a gas station attendant in Maspeth.
Law enforcement sources said that Jonathan Aviles, 23, of Arlington Avenue allegedly confronted a male worker at the Gas Trac station located at 60-93 Flushing Ave. at 3:37 a.m. on Jan. 28 and threw him to the ground.
Police said that Aviles allegedly rained blows upon the worker before stealing just $78 in cash out of his pockets and fleeing the scene. The injured attendant wound up being taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
Aviles, however, couldn’t elude the 104th Precinct for long; officers took him into custody moments later on 58th Drive between 59th Street and Flushing Avenue, about two blocks from the crime scene.
During a search, authorities said, police recovered a gravity knife allegedly in his possession.
Aviles was charged with second-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
The Gas Trac station was robbed last October in an unrelated caper. During that incident, two masked men robbed a station attendant at gunpoint, stealing $1,100 in cash.
