A crash on the Grand Central Parkway in Forest Hills on Friday morning caused multiple injuries and brought traffic to a standstill.
According to police, at 8:15 a.m. on March 30, a 20-year-old man was driving a 2004 Honda Accord eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway between the Jewel Avenue and Van Wyck Expressway exits when he struck the guard rail separating the east and west bound lanes. The car began to rotate and struck a 2018 Mini Cooper, which was operated by a 49-year-old man.
Three passengers in the Honda Accord, an 18-year-old male, a 29-year-old female and a 19-year-old female, were ejected from the car. The 18-year-old male and a 29-year-old female suffered head trauma and the 19-year-old female suffered a hand injury. All three passengers were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens.
The drivers of the Accord and the Mini Cooper were both transported to Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries and are in stable condition.
Debris from the crash struck a 2016 Toyota Prius. The driver of the Prius did not suffer any injuries.
Officers from the NYPD Highway Patrol and the 112th Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units. All eastbound lanes in the area were shut down.
The investigation is ongoing.
