Detectives are investigating what caused a deadly crash on the Grand Central Parkway in East Elmhurst early on Friday morning.
Police said the one-car collision occurred just before 3:42 a.m. on March 23 along the eastbound Grand Central Parkway near the Astoria Boulevard overpass.
According to law enforcement sources, the unidentified woman was operating a black 2017 Toyota Highlander eastbound on the parkway when she apparently lost control of her vehicle, which struck a guardrail and then a pillar stanchion before coming to a stop.
Officers from the 115th Precinct and NYPD Highway Patrol, along with EMS units, responded to a 911 call about the crash. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene; her identity was not disclosed, pending family notification.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
