Tragedy struck a Jackson Heights family on Monday morning as an infant died after being found unconscious in her home.
Officers from the 115th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the residence on 35th Avenue near 73rd Street at 10:49 a.m. on April 16 after receiving a 911 call.
Upon arriving, they found Zeyrep Kocaman, 4 months old, unconscious and unresponsive in the home. Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma. Sources familiar with the investigation did not disclose where in the home that the child was located.
Paramedics brought Kocaman to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body was transferred to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
An investigation is ongoing.
