Note-passing man leaves empty-handed during a failed heist at a Sunnyside bank

Cops are looking for a note-passing crook who ultimately left with nothing after he tried to rob a Sunnyside bank.

According to police, at 11:56 a.m. on June 14, an unknown man walked into a Chase Bank located at 47-11 Queens Blvd. Once inside, he approached the teller and passed a note that demanded money.

After receiving the note, the teller walked away from the counter and didn’t return. The suspect then fled the scene empty-handed, heading westbound on Queens Boulevard.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his 50s and standing 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a dark-colored bucket hat, a gray shirt, a black shirt, black pants and black and white sneakers.

It was the third attempted bank robbery in Queens on June 14. At about the same time the attempted heist in Sunnyside, a man made two robbery bids at Chase banks in Middle Village. At this time, police said, the robbery attempts do not appear to be connected.
